Northern Divers Repairs Courses

Learn how to repair and maintain your Northern Diver drysuits. This course is recommended for dive team members, water rescue team members, law enforcement and fire service personnel. Students on this course will discuss how to maintain and repair minor tears, punctures, and holes in neoprene and tri-laminate drysuits. There will be a demonstrations and training given by our alteration and repairs team who have over 30 years experience and service.

You will complete the following sections when attending the Northern Diver Repairs Course.


Neoprene preparation:

  • Cutting & pattern sizing
  • Removal of neoprene neck and cuffs
  • Correct pattern selection
  • Boot change & preparation of new boots
  • Zip replacement, zip preparation and sizing
  • Panel cutting
  • Fitting of latex seals to a neoprene suit

Membrane preparation:

  • Removal of neck and cuffs (latex and neoprene)
  • Preparation of replacement neck and cuffs (neoprene and latex)
  • Boot change & preparation of new boots
  • Zip replacement, zip preparation and sizing

You will learn how to carry out repairs and alterations to both neoprene and membrane suits, this will include:

  • Fitting of neck and cuff seals (latex and neoprene)
  • Correct internal taping
  • Boot change, fitting and taping to the suit
  • Cleaning and fitting of a zip into the suit
  • Repairing leaks
  • Fitting pockets and kneepads
